The IPCC Working Group I (WGI) Technical Support Unit, together with ProClim- and the Federal Office for Environment, in collaboration with the Swiss Association of Science Journalism, is offering an informal workshop for the media on 29 August 2013. This is one month before the approval of the WGI contribution to the IPCC’s Fifth Assessment Report «Climate Change 2013: The Physical Science Basis» (WGI AR5) in Stockholm, 23 - 26 September. The purpose is to bring the Swiss media up to date with all the background information on the IPCC and on AR5. Brief overviews on the development of an IPCC Assessment Report and their role for international policymakers will be presented. Technical issues of report development will also be addressed, such as how IPCC describes uncertainties, the use of different sources of literature, handling errors, etc.
