Opening Ceremony of the Twelfth Session of Working Group I, Stockholm

IPCC Working Group I is meeting in its 12th Session in Stockholm, Sweden, 23-26 September 2013, to approve the Summary for Policymakers and accept the full report of the Working Group I contribution to the IPCC’s Fifth Assessment Report, Climate Change 2013: the Physical Science Basis. The Working Group I Session opened at the Münchenbryggeriet (The Brewery Conference Centre), Stockholm in a ceremony on Monday 23 September.
Delegates from 110 governments as well as 20 IPCC observer organizations were addressed by the Co-Chairs of IPCC Working Group I, Qin Dahe and Thomas Stocker and by the IPCC Chair Rajendra K. Pachauri. Video addresses were provided by World Meteorological Organization Secretary-General Michel Jarraud and by United Nations Environment Programme Executive Director Achim Steiner. A statement was presented by Halldór Thorgeirsson on behalf of Christiana Figueres, Executive Secretary, United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. The Minister for the Environment of Sweden, H.E. Lena Ek, addressed the session on behalf of the host country.
