UN Climate Summit 2014, New York

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon hosted a one-day Climate Summit to engage leaders and advance climate action and ambition. The Summit served as a public platform for leaders at the highest level and included all UN Member States, as well as finance, business, civil society and local leaders from public and private sectors. The purpose of the 2014 Climate Summit was to raise political momentum for a meaningful universal climate agreement in Paris in 2015 and to galvanize transformative action in all countries to reduce emissions and build resilience to the adverse impacts of climate change.
The Chairman of the IPCC, Rajendra K. Pachauri, addressed the General Assembly with a statement during the Opening Ceremony of the Climate Summit.
Thomas Stocker, Co-Chair of Working Group I, was a panellist on the Thematic Discussion on Climate Science.
